These images are from an ongoing series called Re-Collect that explores emotion and memory. I began by looking through my collection of diaries and chose pages for the significance of their dates or for their entries. It was strange re-reading the past. It made me question how thoughts and events that we consider life changing alter over time, become embellished or distorted. I submerged the selected pages in water, froze and photographed them. The effects were unpredictable. Ice obscured some words and drew attention to others. It was as if the process of freezing determined the importance of the recollected moments.
