I work with photography, video and sound to expand and disrupt traditional representations of landscape. I approach contemporary issues in a reflective way, experimenting with media and metaphor to create new narratives.

The beauty of a landscape isn’t that important to me. Most of the time my photographs show a location that has been compromised – either by environmental factors or by a connection to a particular narrative. The locations are never random; they are specific sites that I return to and obsess over, and most projects continue for a year or longer.

While some projects reference personal history, memory and the passage of time, others reflect on contemporary socio-political and environmental concerns. My ongoing photographic series, Disrupted Landscapes, and video, Chalk, both explore contemporary politics in England through the metaphor of landscape, specifically focusing on the landscape of the Kent coast.
