In early July I went to Rencontres d’Arles for a few days. I managed to see a lot of exhibitions and hear several artist’s talks including Susan Meiselas and Alys Tomlinson. Some of my favourite work was at Atelier des Forges - Rachel Rose’s Enclosure video and the On Earth exhibition. Also found the Borders exhibition very powerful and Emeric LHuisset’s video, which had a wonderful voice track. Home Sweet Home and Kurt Tong’s exhibition also made a strong impression. This year I enjoyed the women in photography party by the pool where it was great to see so many familiar faces.
A big decision was made this month to leave my job and go back to university. I have been offered at place on the MA Photography course at LCC and plan to start in September. Exciting!
This month I have four photographs in Shutterhub’s Because We Can exhibition at Festival Pil’ours, France. The exhibition includes photographers from many different countries and runs until the end of August.
Building up a collection of images of tidal islands, which is connected in part to the Beyond Land series. This was from a shoot at the end of June.
