There seems to have been a lot of things happening this month. At the start of July I was asked if I would contribute an image for the promotion of Coil’s The Dreamer is Still Asleep feat. David Tibet, Current 93 produced by Othon. As I’m a big fan of Coil I was very happy to be involved.
Mid-month, Photofusion’s SALON/21 opened. It was an online pv, but although it was a shame not to see other photographers at the opening event, we did get to have a tour of the exhibition with the curators Emma Bowkett and Zelda Cheatle. This was a treat, because they spoke about their curatorial decisions and what they had liked about the works they had selected. After the tour Photofusion revealed the four artists who would receive a SELECT award, which leads to a small group show at the gallery later in the year. I was very happy to be selected, along with Tamsin Green, Maria Ahmed, and Mathushaa Sagthidas. I also visited the show several days later - so much work that I liked. It is on until 31 August.
I was asked if I would take part in an artists talk at Photofusion during the exhibition, and this will be taking place on 5 August at 6.30pm.
Also this month, we had our virtual graduation event. I wasn’t able to listen to it live, but caught it the next day. Grateful to have had the experience of the MA and to have been able to dedicate so much time to my practice. I have mainly been working on the video idea this month - writing and rewriting. It’s coming along! I’ve also produced some more Disrupted Landscapes which I hope to produce as a book in the future.
About a week ago I found out that work from Disrupted Landscapes had been selected for an online show of graduates work. There were hundreds of submissions and over 30 artists will be in this exhibition, organised by XLVI space, which is run by William Lakin and Sophie Gladstone. It was good to see a couple of LCC grads in the show list too.
