The Activists Without Borders Film Festival took place on the last day of November, at the Biscuit Factory Cinema in Reading. Sadly I missed my own film screening and a few others as the rail network had ground to a halt and there were no trains but I made it there eventually to catch inspiring and brilliant films on a variety of subjects around social injustice and climate change.
The panel discussions with filmmakers followed the screenings and then there was the awards ceremony. Thank you so much activistswithoutborders for such a supportive, inspiring, and important festival and congratulations to all the other filmmakers - I’m so happy to have been a part of it.
I was very happy to be invited onto Frank Watson’s radio programme, The Sound of Photography, this month and also a bit nervous about how it would turn out. Frank, who is a photographer as well as a broadcaster, has had a great number of photographers and curators on his show, and past episodes can be listened to from the website. It was really enjoyable talking about perceptions of landscape and revisiting some photography and video projects, many of which involve the sea. I loved the fact I could choose some music for the programme and Sonic Youth, PJ Harvey, Radiohead and Beth Gibbons were featured.

Just 4 days left in 2025. It’s been a very difficult and sad year on a personal level but a good year for work, and creative opportunities. Onward into 2026. I hope that I’ll create some new work that excites me and that I’ll continue to be inspired by landscape, politics and art. As always, hoping for a calmer year for everyone, more empathy, less cruelty, more peace in the world.
